Your physiotherapist in Zeist: what to expect from the first visit

New in the Netherlands, or just new to physiotherapy? This page explains how a visit to our physiotherapist at the Panweg 55 in Zeist works: from booking without a referral to the examination, the treatment plan and the exercises you take home. No surprises, no jargon.

Booking: no referral, no waiting list

You do not need a letter from a doctor. Book online or call 030 695 5269 and tell us briefly what is wrong; the front desk plans forty-five minutes for a first consultation. If you have a referral from a GP or specialist anyway, bring it, it saves time. Also bring your insurance card or policy details and, if you have them, reports or scans from a hospital.

Appointments are usually possible within a few days. Monday and Thursday we are open until 21:00, so you can come after work.

The first consultation: examination and plan

Your physiotherapist starts with questions: when the pain began, what makes it worse, what you do for work and sport, and what you want to be able to do again. Then comes the physical examination: movement, strength, stability and the painful structure itself. For tendons, muscles and joints we often use diagnostic ultrasound right away, so you can see what is going on.

At the end you get a clear explanation, a plan with an estimate of the number of sessions, and your first exercises. If we think you need a doctor or a specialist instead, we tell you so.

Below you find the parts of a treatment programme at MoveWell Zeist, and what we have in the building to make it work.

What a treatment programme looks like

Examination and ultrasound

Fysiotherapie Zeist - MoveWell Zeist

We examine before we treat. For tendons, muscles and joints a diagnostic ultrasound shows what is going on, during the same visit.

Hands-on treatment

Fysiotherapie Zeist - MoveWell Zeist

Mobilisation of stiff joints, manual therapy, massage and dry needling for muscle knots, used when they speed up recovery.

Exercise room

Our exercise room at the Panweg has the equipment for strength, stability and conditioning. You train under supervision, then at home.

Back and neck

The complaints we see most. Physiotherapy, and when it helps, the chiropractor in the same building.

Sports injuries

Fysiotherapie Zeist - MoveWell Zeist

From a sprained ankle to a hamstring tear: diagnosis, treatment and a return-to-sport plan.

After surgery

Fysiotherapie Zeist - MoveWell Zeist

Rehabilitation after a knee, hip or shoulder operation, with the surgeon’s protocol as the guide.

Home visits

behandeling fysiotherapie na botbreuken

If you cannot come to the practice, your physiotherapist visits you at home in Zeist and the surrounding villages, with a referral.

Costs

Fysiotherapie Zeist - MoveWell Zeist

First consultation 62 euros, follow-up 47 euros, reimbursed from supplementary insurance. No hidden extras.

Three steps to recovery

Step 1: Move

First we restore movement. Pain makes you guard the area, and a joint or muscle that is not used stiffens further. Hands-on treatment, mobilisation and the first gentle exercises get you moving again, usually within the first two or three sessions.

Step 2: Strengthen

Then we build strength and stability. In our exercise room at the Panweg you train the muscles that protect the joint, with a programme set by your physiotherapist and adjusted every visit. This is the part that makes the result last.

Step 3: Function

Finally we make it work in daily life: lifting, sitting at a desk, running, playing with your children. You leave with a short home programme and advice on posture and load, so you know what to do if the complaint ever returns.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a physiotherapy session take?

The first consultation takes about forty-five minutes, including the examination. Follow-up treatments take twenty-five to thirty minutes, longer when training in the exercise room is part of the plan.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on the complaint. An acute sprain often needs three to six sessions, a long-standing back or shoulder problem more. After the first visit your physiotherapist gives you an estimate, and the plan is reviewed every few sessions.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing that lets us see and move the painful area: shorts for knee and hip, a vest or sports top for shoulder and neck. For the exercise room, bring trainers.

Can I come without Dutch health insurance?

Yes. You pay per session and receive an invoice you can submit to a foreign or international insurer. Rates are on our costs page.

What if I cannot make my appointment?

Let us know at least twenty-four hours in advance by phone or email, and we move it free of charge. A missed appointment without notice is charged at 39 euros and is not reimbursed by insurance.

Can I choose a male or female physiotherapist?

In Zeist you are treated by Jeroen Vermeer. If you prefer a female physiotherapist, we plan your appointment at MoveWell Hilversum, twenty minutes away, where the team is larger.

Do you treat children?

General complaints and sports injuries in children and teenagers, yes. For specialised children’s physiotherapy we work with the children’s physiotherapist of MoveWell Hilversum.
